About Townships
Townships were established as a pure democratic process to provide people with a direct voice in grassroots government.
A township that meets legal qualifications may adopt a limited home rule government. In Ohio three trustees and a fiscal officer, each elected to a four-year term, administer our townships today. Additionally, some townships now appoint a township administrator, whose duties are defined by the Ohio Revised Code and the individual township.
