Snapshots of Lorain County

by Photojournalist Michael McCray

Photo essays are forms of visual storytelling, to present a narrative through a series of images. This photojournalism project is made up of short photo essays on Lorain County in Ohio. It is divided by political subdivision and resources.

Lorain County is located in the northeastern part of Ohio. Nathan Perry is recognized by many as the first settler. It was created from other counties in N.E. Ohio and established in 1822, and it became judicially independent in 1824. The county seat is Elyria, and its largest city is Lorain. It has the ninth largest population in Ohio.  At present Lorain County is divided politically into 18 townships, seven villages, and nine cities. As of the 2020 census, the population was 312,964 and it is part of the Cleveland, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area.

This is a time intensive project and I work on it almost every day. Also, two other domains I own will be redirected here, OhioSeniors.com and OhioNature.com. If you live in Lorain County suggestions are welcome. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
