Wellington Township

Wellington Township was originally part of Medina County. In March of 1818 Ephrain Wilcox and Charles Sweet arrived as the first settlers in the area. On July 4th of that year, they were joined by Ephrain Wilcox’s wife and child, Theodore Wilcox and sister, Miss Caroline Wilcox, Dr. Daniel Johns, Frederick Hamlin and Austin Kingsbury. On January 21, 1824, Lorain County was organized, and Wellington Township became part of the new county.

As of the 2020 census the population was 6,140.
