Snapshots of Lorain County
A photo essay by photojournalist Michael McCray
Photo essays are forms of visual storytelling, to present a narrative through a series of images. This photojournalism project is made up of short photo essays on Lorain County in Ohio, where I live. Before the internet existed and lived in Lorain County, I was the real estate photographer for most of the northern half of the county. When I moved to Lorain County, I spent a great deal of my time photographing nature as a means of relaxing from other less pleasant, but interesting photography. In 2005 I began a three-day commute down Ohio State Route 301 and began photographing life and scenery along the road. It was the start of this project and had over 500 images online. In 2016 I stopped driving the road becoming the caregiver for family members. The Just off Ohio State Route 301 project formed the base of this project.
