City of Elyria Wastewater Plant

Wastewater Pollution Control

The management of wastewater is one of the core functions of government.  Keeping Black River healthy serves everyone and the consequence of failure affects everyone. Having clean drinking water free of toxins, bacteria, and viruses that cause disease is essential.

Wastewater surveillance can provide information on viruses circulating within the community.

There are two parts of wastewater management getting it there and treating it. Both are remarkable feats of engineering and chemistry.

I am grateful for Mayor Whitfield and Tery Korzan of Elyria Wastewater Pollution Control Plant for allowing access.

How to keep your drain open and protect our water supply.

The lines from your toilet and sinks to the wastewater system easily clogged and you may end up the bearing cost. A few suggestion on how to avoid this problems:

Things that should not be put down in your household water system drains, grease, coffee grounds, fat & oil, flushable kitty litter, cotton balls, medications, feminine products, toxic household cleaners, and plastics.

The only things you should flush down the toilet are pee, poop, and toilet paper.

I am grateful for Mayor Whitfield and Tery Korzan of Elyria Wastewater Pollution Control Plant for their help creating this project.
