Steve Bevan and his wife Elizabeth (Liz) Simonson started Gold Star Awards in 1997. At that time they were both working full time elsewhere. She worked as a Registered nurse and was also in the U.S. Army Reserves She eventually retiring as a Major with 20 years of service. Steve was working nights and weekends as a Maintenance Millwright. They each handled different aspects of the business and still do for the most part. She handles the books and paid the bills while he ran the business. In the beginning, he had to learn how to design, build, and engrave all the awards and recognition products we sold such as custom trophies, plaques, medals, and name tags. They have come a long way in the past 21+ years and have many loyal clients who count on us to help them recognize some very special people. Although Steve does not personally do the actual work any longer he still deals with our clients and makes sure they get the service and best quality products available.
