Ely Square
The City of Elyria is the county seat of Lorain County, Ohio. For over 200 years Ely Square has been the City of Elyria’s and Lorain County's central gathering place. The property was donated by the city's founder Heman Ely, and the square has long featured a series of fountains over the years. Elyria City Hall is located on the west side of Ely Square. Ely Square contains veterans' memorials from the wars our nation has engaged in, and the citizens of Lorain County have served and died in over its history. Lorain County Courts and Lorain County Administration occupy buildings just off the southeast and southwest corners of the square.
